My name is Jenna, and I am 25 years old. Tremendously blessed, I am married to a wonderful man, and together we are raising a beautiful little girl. Located in the "mitten state", we reside in a modest suburban area in our own itty bitty house. We have three cats and one dog as our furry companions, and are always tempted to have maybe *just one more*. lol We love God, and value all creation, big or small.

"Babies Do Fine When Mom Works"

This article caught my eye today, as I was perusing the news. Below, are some of the statements made in the article that were of interest to me.

"Working moms in the study did spend less time overall with their young children than mothers who did not work outside the home. But they tended to make up for lost time on their off days at the expense of other activities like housework."

"When they examined two 24-hour time periods that included one workday and one nonworking day for the moms with outside jobs, the researchers found that stay-at-home moms only spent about an hour and a half more with their young child than working moms."

[Quotes from Source Article @ Fox News]

As I read through the article, I realized that they were indeed speaking only of very young children. I think that there is a danger in fuzzing right over that, being that many working moms may feel that what has worked in the past for their infant may still work when the child is a bit older.

I would say that the study was less than fair, because they did not compare a true stay-at-home mom and working mother. No, they compared a working mom, and a mom on her day off from work. That definitely does not give a good representation between the differences in time and care.

Hello, Jenna. I was on my way to my blog when I saw the title of this post on the main blogdrive page and had to read it.

Thank you for posting it. I sometimes don't think the world "out there" understands us stay-at-home-moms. What DO we do all day?

I have two boys in public school and one still home with me. If my husband lost his job, or had to take a different job for half the pay, I'd still be a stay-at-home-mom. We'd find a way!

Bless you and your family!

Hey there! Funny, that I went and wrote all of that, and then looked at the wording of the article more closely to realize that they weren't actually referring to stay at home moms! *laughs* Oh, all of that time and energy for nothing.... lol

I would say that the article is VERY misleading in the way that it is presented.
