My name is Jenna, and I am 25 years old. Tremendously blessed, I am married to a wonderful man, and together we are raising a beautiful little girl. Located in the "mitten state", we reside in a modest suburban area in our own itty bitty house. We have three cats and one dog as our furry companions, and are always tempted to have maybe *just one more*. lol We love God, and value all creation, big or small.

Oooo.......working vacation......... lol
I am up late tonight, and I am actually happy to be able to do it. *chuckles* Why? Because I can sleep in tomorrow morning. lol
I have the next three days off from babysitting, so combined with the weekend, it feels as though I am beginning a vacation. *laughs* It will be a working vacation though, because I have a lot of housework to catch up on. It is so hard for me to get some chores done during the day, because I just can't trust DD not to do anything devious to the baby while I am out of the room. It isn't that she tries to hurt him or anything, but that she wants to "mommy" him too much. She may just accidentally hurt him, while trying to take care of him. Ok, and I did catch her trying to write on him with a pen. lol
So, my day is going to be full tomorrow. I will need to put in some computer time, to tie up some loose ends. Then, I am off to scrub sights that have not been scrubbed for about 3 weeks. Sounds scary, eh? I think so. I've wiped some things down, in passing, but haven't done the deep cleaning that needs to be done. I think that my cloth shower curtain is starting to smell a little of mildew....
One of my projects for this week is to piece together at least two weeks worth of unit studies for DD. She begins school on the 12th of September, so I need to get myself in gear. I am looking to put together simple studies, but things that are interesting enough to keep her attention.
Oh, so I didn't tell you that DH shaved the dog. lol Yup, he took our hair clippers, and he shaved the dog down to a #2. It isn't bad looking, except for his tail. His poor little tail looks kind of funny, and I think that I may try and touch it up tomorrow. It did make it a lot easier to apply his flea medicine for this month though. *chuckles* I can't fuss at DH too much though, because I shaved my dog when I was a teenager, and he was a full-bred collie. It did turn out to be a good thing though, because we noticed how tiny he was getting, and we took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with cancer, and died shortly thereafter. Boy, but that turned things gloomy. Anyway, Skip is usually a short-haired dog anyway, so it isn't like he's gone completely back to puppyhood. lol
Well, Pokie doesn't seem to be doing anything, at least not that we can see. I haven't noticed him moving around at all, so I hope that he isn't dead. If he is going through any changes, it must be on the inside. I guess all we can do is just sit and watch, really.
Alrighty, I've blogged enough for one night. OH!! How do you like the new look? DH always teases me and calls me "donkey" (I think it's my teeth lol), so I thought that I would sport a donkey. It's fitting, since I'm also a huge Eeyore fan. lol :o )

Day 5
There seems to be no change in Pokie.
Day 6
Oh my goodness. Last night, Pokie seemed to be the same. Today though, things have changed completely. Pokie now looks shorter, for some reason. His last half of segments seem to have fused together to form one segment. Most startling, Pokie has turned dark brown. We haven't been able to spot his legs, and do not know if they are still intact. From time to time, Pokie wiggles around within his skin, and swells a bit, before relaxing and going still.
To be honest, he looks kind of........gross. lol

Day 3
Pokie is still moving around today, though I'm not sure how he manages. Through the night, Pokie has reinforced the walls of his cocoon, making them thicker. They are now about 1/4 in. thick, for as well as I can guess, based on the section attached to the peanut butter jar. He has lost almost all of his remaining hair, and has only a couple little hairs left.
Day 4
Pokie was doing a lot of wiggling around last night, but he has calmed down now. He hasn't moved in quite a while. It looks as though he might have shed the last remaining hairs that he had. It does not appear that he was doing any more building on the cocoon, so I can only assume that that job is completed. Now, I guess we wait and see what happens.

Caterpiller: day 1, day 2
Day 1
DH became excited and called to us when he came home from work. As he was coming in the house, he found a caterpiller on the side of our house. So, knowing that DD and I would enjoy it, he brought it inside to show us. Curious as to exactly what we were looking at, I searched the internet until I found the right kind of caterpiller. We named the caterpiller "Pokie", because as a Dagger Moth caterpiller, he had 5 black whisker-like spikey hairs poking out from his light green fuzz.
We pulled out a peanut butter jar that I had washed, and we put him inside. DH poked holes in the top, and we added maple leaves and a branch, because they are the trees near our house. We anticipated that it was probably the type of tree that the caterpiller came from, and after researching on the internet, we found out that it is indeed probable.
As we went to bed, Pokie was in the process of leaving little silk webs all around the inside of the jar.
Day 2
Today, Pokie started out by hanging out near the top of the jar. We had been very busy today, so after a couple minutes of observation, we left him to his devices. Later in the afternoon, I was shocked to find that Pokie had begun to build a cocoon on the side of the peanut butter jar. This is absolutely awesome, because we can see everything that is going on, with one clear side for viewing. After watching for a few minutes to be sure that he was still alive, we went about our business.
This evening, I was very surprised by the change that took place in our little caterpiller. Pokie is no longer pokie. Actually, he is no longer hairy either. It looks as though Pokie's hair has come off, and created a blind for him, which is most likely the way that he makes his cocoon blend in with a tree, and keep him from being readily visible to anything that might want to eat him. Thankfully, we still have our clear side for viewing. Now pokie is hair-less, and I can see that his body is a pale green color. He is still moving a little, though there isn't much room in the cocoon. I tried to take pictures, to document the changes, but my camera is just too messed up to take any good pictures. I will try to at least clean up the ones that I DID take, and see if they are worth posting.
